Windward Roads director released

PHILIPSBURG --The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Wednesday that construction company Windward Roads Director J.B. had been released from pre-trial detention. The anti-corruption team TBO arrested him Wednesday last week in connection with the Larimar investigation.

The investigation emerged from an investigation into the bribery of civil servants, (political) authorities and persons in the construction sector, among other things. Previous actions, including a search at Windward Roads on January 24, led to his arrest last week.

J.B. remains a suspect, according to new Prosecutor’s Office of St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius spokesperson Hazel Durand, who said, “The prosecutor no longer has grounds to keep him in custody.
