US $2 million insurance claims advance for schools

PHILIPSBURG--Finance Minister Michael Ferrier said on Wednesday that Government has received a “small advance” on its insurance claims from NAGICO Insurances and this will be applied to urgent repairs of schools.

He told The Daily Herald the amount received is US $2 million. He had said during the Council of Ministers press briefing earlier in the day that NAGICO is the insurance company that covers Government buildings and the advance received will be “put to good use” and “immediately start urgent repairs to schools so that they can be ready for the 2018-2019 school year.”
The schools to be repaired have been identified and Ferrier promised to provide this information to this newspaper today.
