Up in the air

The intended direct flight between Bonaire and St. Eustatius has become unsure now that potentially the biggest user of the connection is yet to make any arrangements with Bonaire’s EZ Air, which has two Beechcraft 1900D planes.

The company’s management is a bit disappointed in the lack of response from National Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN, which in turn says its Shared Service Organisation (SSO) books trips for civil servants with a travel bureau that uses all available providers. EZ claims its aircraft can cover the distance within two hours, while it now takes almost a whole day with stops in both St. Maarten and Curaçao. The carrier is currently flying from Bonaire to Curaçao and back four times daily, with plans to add Aruba later this month.
