Undocumented persons arrested at guesthouse

CAY HILL--Police and Immigration officers arrested seven undocumented immigrants from Cuba and the Dominican Republic during a control at a local guesthouse in Cay Hill on Thursday, January 12.

Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the arrest was based on information gathered by Immigration and the Police Force in connection with an ongoing investigation, although he indicated that those detained were not the specific group for whom authorities are searching as part of the investigation. The details of the investigation were not provided in a press release issued on Sunday.

Henson said the control had been conducted with full cooperation of the establishment’s management. Of the seven persons arrested six are of Cuban nationality and one is from the Dominican Republic. The seven were in violation of the country’s immigration laws and were arrested pending their deportation.

In the meantime, the investigation continues.
