PHILIPSBURG--Four taxi associations joined forces early Friday morning to clean Bell’s Lookout Point, formerly known as Harold Jack, after noticing litter at the popular tourist destination ahead of the upcoming high season.
Members of the Dutch St. Maarten Taxi Association, Airport Taxi Association, Maho Taxi Association and Down Town Taxi Association began the cleanup at 6:00am on October 16.

Dutch St Maarten Taxi Association President Maya Friday said the cleanup is an annual initiative, with the associations deciding to take action after observing the amount of garbage in the area.
“We don't have to wait for anyone else to do it, we have enough people and resources to take care of it,” Friday said, explaining the decision to organise the cleanup themselves.
The initiative was intended to help prepare the popular lookout point for the approaching tourist high season, with members of all four associations working together to address the litter.
