Supplies were distributed to over 150 families.
MARIGOT--SXM Girl’s Night Out (SXMGNO) in collaboration with the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) was honoured to be able to donate food items and water to more than 150 families in the aftermath of the recent hurricanes.
“When we saw the devastation and after overcoming the shock we knew we had to do something,” said Bernadette Davis, one of the event managers. “Fortunately for us, the founder of SXMGNO Ogechi Anyanwu immediately engaged her employer TIA who was only too eager to help.
“We immediately thought of all of our faithful SXMGNO family members and upon receipt of the nine pallets, we decided to make packages and deliver to the best of our ability to all those who came forward to let us know of their situation.
“The bags contained various types of canned goods, rice, flour, sugar, matches, medicine, sanitary items, baby formula, baby diapers, batteries and a host of other items that are needed in these trying times.
“We also allotted a percentage of the bags to senior citizens and also hand-delivered them. SXMGNO believes that as a woman’s organisation we must try to get our women entrepreneurs up and running and therefore we are busy putting a structure in place to help.
