WILLESTAD--Michael Römer and the Government of Curaçao have reached a settlement. The suspended security service VDC Head won’t return to his post as long as he is offered another suitable function for his knowledge, training and experience.
Caretaker interim Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas in a letter stated that Römer could go back to work, but after all what’s happened he prefers to do something else. He had been suspended by the former Whiteman Cabinet in connection with a factual investigation into the possible threatening of a woman and his integrity.
However, the person he would have threatened with a firearm soon denied such via her lawyer. Since there was no indication of any punishable acts Römer’s name has now officially been cleared.
