The weak Atlantic high pressure system will continue to generate mostly light easterly winds across the region. Meanwhile, a relatively dry and stable atmosphere will restrict precipitation during this forecast period.
Seas are expected to peak near 7 feet during the next few days. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

At 11:00 am the center of Tropical Storm Helene was located near Latitude 13.4 north, longitude 20.6 west or about 2830 miles east southeast of St. Maarten. Helene is moving toward the west near 13 mph with maximum sustained winds near 45 mph and higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected during the next few days.
…Tropical Depression Nine is expected to become a Tropical Storm later today…
At 11:00 am the center of Tropical Depression Nine was located near Latitude 14.6 north, longitude 36.0 west or about 1800 miles east southeast of St. Maarten. The system is moving toward the west northwest near 06 mph with maximum sustained winds near 35 mph and higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is expected during the next few days.
The St. Maarten Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
