SYNOPSIS:
A dry and stable atmosphere will continue to influence mainly fair and breezy conditions today. Low level clouds drifting with the brisk easterly wind flow may account for an increase in cloudiness and possible isolated showers later tonight into Sunday.
Moderate sea conditions are expected during this forecast period however, a gradually deteriorate is expected as Tropical Storm Beryl approaches the region. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: At 11am, Hurricane Beryl weakened to a tropical storm. Beryl was located near latitude 12.1 North, longitude 51.1 West or about 900 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Beryl continues to move toward the west northwest near 14 mph. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 65 mph with higher gusts. On this approach the center of Beryl is expected to pass about 150 miles south of St. Maarten early Monday. There are no watches or warnings in effect for St. Maarten. Nevertheless, residents are urged to keep informed on the progress of this system. MDS will continue to monitor the system and keep the public updated.
