Some areas will not get power by Xmas

PHILIPSBURG--Despite utilities company GEBE’s goal to fully restore electricity to all areas by this weekend, some areas will spend Christmas in darkness.

The utilities company said in a press release on Friday that while progress continues to be made to restore power to customers who were affected by Hurricane Irma, due to logistical issues in several districts power will not be fully restored before Christmas.
GEBE said areas that have underground utilities that will not have power before Christmas are Amaranthus and Sunflower Roads, Banjo Road, Marimba Drive, Aaron Jacobs Drive and Cannegieter Drive. Areas that have overhead utilities which will not be receiving electricity before Christmas are Saba Drive, Guavaberry Drive, Mayaguana Drive, Richards Drive and Madrid Drive.
GEBE said it understands that being without electricity is challenging and can cause personal discomfort, but stressed, “However, we are grateful to our customers for their patience as the company’s technicians continue to work day and night to ensure power restoration to all.”
