CAY HILL--St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has donated items to more than 300 persons thanks to a successful donation drive the medical institution held recently.

The donated items included formula, diapers, clothing and shoes. The donation drive was for parents and guardians with small children. SMMC obstetrician/gynaecologist Dr. Patricia Mercelina-Roumans and SMMC management thanked everyone who had been involved in the donation drive.

For the drive Nancy Normans collected children’s clothing in the Netherlands. Obstetrics and gynaecology OB/GYN Department nurses from the Zuyderland Medisch Center in the Netherlands donated diapers and formula. Volunteers from Make St. Maarten Great Again Foundation helped to get the donated items from the Netherlands to St. Maarten and also assisted during the event.

Nurses from SMMC’s OB/GYN and Paediatric wards and its Outpatient Department assisted with the sorting, packing and distribution of items during the event. SMMC’s Maintenance Department and custodial workers also assisted. Domino’s Pizza provided refreshments for volunteers involved in the project and Le Grand Marche provided shopping bags in which items donated were packed. “With the help of all persons we were able to make this event a success. Let’s continue to work together as we continue to rebuild St. Maarten,” SMMC said in a press release.
