PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Development Fund (SMDF) met with Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin recently. SMDF Director Keith Franca and Programme and Development Manager Makhicia Brooks presented the fund’s annual report for the year 2018, including the audited financial statement, during the visit.

The annual report, which outlines the organisation's work throughout the year, includes overviews of its executed projects. Throughout 2018, SMDF managed more than NAf. 8.4 million from multiple donors, including the Government of St. Maarten, the Dutch Ministry of Kingdom and Interior Relations, Windward Islands Bank, Netherlands-based RebuildSXM, Netherlands-based humanitarian organisation Cordaid and the Caribbean Shipping Association.

As a self-governing organisation that receives funds from the Government of St. Maarten, SMDF submits an annual report, including audited financial statements, by June 30 of each year. In addition to the annual report, SMDF submits quarterly reports to the government of St. Maarten.

This procedure of reporting five times per year is also done with all other SMDF donors.
