SMART launches activity afternoon

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten/St. Martin Annual Regional Tradeshow (SMART) will launch a new concept called “activity afternoon” with a ride on the well-known America’s Cup vessel Stars and Stripes 87. The 12-Metre Regatta offers a free ride to the first 33 SMART attendees interested for the seats available to the four partners.

Other tours include the Butterfly Farm, new innovations like Marigot Donuts Dream BBQ Boats, and a Sand Dollar snorkel trip by Aquamania. Various options are offered for visiting tour operators, press and travel agents, as well as local hoteliers and vendors.

The activity afternoon will pay homage to those as they make a tourist’s stay extra worthwhile. SMART visitors are offered free trials to get acquainted with the many activities on offer on both sides of the island. Next to this, a special “activity vendor alley” will be on display at SMART on June 15.

Other new concepts launched for SMART are increased number of vendors to give St. Maarten/St. Martin businesses a chance to meet the sought-after market of hotels as well as tour operators, launch of a meeting backup service and increasing the number of networking events.

SMART organisers L’Association des Hoteliers de St. Martin, St. Martin Tourism Office, St. Maarten Tourist Bureau and St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) encourage hoteliers and others who may have activities and/or experiences to offer attendees to contact SHTA via e-mail at
