Shooting suspect surrenders to cops

PHILIPSBURG--After an all night manhunt by police J.B -also known as Poya”- from the district of St. Peters surrendered to police early Thursday morning for his involvement in the shooting incident which took place close to 7:00pm on Wednesday.

Poya shot Immigration Officer Jason Juliet in the left leg during a heated argument. Spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office Karola van Nie confirmed that the suspect did surrender to authorities and the investigation is ongoing. Family members of Poyahad called the police to informed them that he would surrender and that he was on his way to the police station minutes to 2:00am.   

Juliet took to social media and thanked supporters and well wishers for their prayers. He posted “not much I can say but thank you to everyone for the prayers and support. So far I do not need surgery no bones were hit and no arteries, thank the Almighty. Now it's one step at a time.”The Daily Herald was informed by Juliet that he is now home recovering from the incident.

The shooting took place in a Chinese restaurant on the L.B. Scott Road in the vicinity of Benny Scots’ property. The two were arguing about a mutual friend, when tempers flared and J.B started to shoot at Juliet, who tried to run away in vain.

Juliet is the son of the retired police spokesman Inspector Geronimo Juliet. According to police the suspect in the shooting is well-known to local authorities.
