Sex worker dies of asthma attack

PHILIPSBURG--A commercial sex worker died at El Captain Club in the evening hours Sunday. April 15, according to police reports this past weekend.

The Daily Herald understands that the worker was suffering from asthma but had her medication on her at all times. Prior to seeing a client, she was seen on surveillance camera using her medication.

The worker had difficulty breathing shortly afterward and requested assistance from the staff at the club. She was rushed to St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment but died before doctors could assist.

Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the police investigated the incident and determined that the woman died of breathing complications. He added that there were no indications of foul play.

El Captain Club management said on Sunday that the woman was rushed to the emergency room after she requested their assistance.

An autopsy was performed and indicated that the woman had died of an asthmatic attack. The police did not release her identity.
