Second body retrieved by Gendarmes in Baie Lucas

MARIGOT--A second body was found washed ashore in Baie Lucas at around 5:00 on Wednesday afternoon, the Gendarmerie confirmed.

Lt. Colonel Sébastien Manzoni said the body was found in almost the exact place as the body found on Tuesday and reported by a passer-by. The deceased is also a young man of black Antillean origin.

As in the first case, there was no sign of any identification with the body. Prosecutor Yves Paillard added there is no evidence of a crime having been committed so far and it was not certain if the two bodies were linked.

A family from Antigua has reported a man missing who went to St. Martin and forwarded photos and descriptions to this newspaper. The Gendarmerie is investigating if there is a match on one of the two bodies.

A result was not expected by press time Wednesday. It did not comment on rumours there might have been three persons missing.

Persons who can provide any information that would help identify the bodies are asked to call the number 17.
