Boulders were placed at the Walter Plantz pier location on Saturday morning as part of a sea turtle nesting awareness campaign started by Port St. Maarten, St. Maarten Nature Foundation and Walter Plantz management team.
The Boulders were painted white to allow pupils from any of the surrounding primary schools to come at the location and paint them and write messages for tourists on them. Management of Walter Plantz maintains that the parking next to the pier is an extension of the promenade and not part of the beach itself. The Daily Herald attempted to contact CEO of the Port Mark Mingo for comment but he did not answer his phone throughout the weekend. (Andrew Dick photo)
