SCDF, new Kaiso association  discuss upcoming Carnival

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) and the recently-formed Soualiga Kaiso Association (SKA) met on Friday, November 27, to talk about Carnival 2021. The meeting’s goal was to discuss how to develop calypso as an art form.

  Present at the meeting were SCDF president Alston Lourens, vice president Paula Gordon and treasurer Michael Granger; and SKA president Marvin “King Stunky” Dollison, vice president Leroy “King Beau Beau” Brooks, treasurer Jean-Louis “X-Ray” Rey, assistant secretary Andrew “Baker Jr” Richardson, and assistant treasurer Alberto “Fish Da Mega Boss” Arrindell.

  SCDF said it will reopen registration for the Carnival 2021 Calypso competition to allow more singers to participate.
