Safe Haven hosts 27 KPSM staff members

PHILIPSBURG--Members of the Police Force of St. Maarten KPSM attended a training session focussing on domestic violence, conducted by representatives of Safe Haven at no cost on Tuesday. The training started at 9:00am and ended at 3:30pm. The subjects discussed during this training session were understanding personalities and self; understanding and practicing emotional intelligence; understanding and conducting a domestic violence intervention; understanding emotions and managing differences and emotions; understanding and managing the issues regarding paramilitary versus civilian life; and exploring the importance of character quality.

  The sessions were given to the KPSM members as a tool, mainly with regard to conversation techniques they can use when they encounter a situation involving domestic violence.

  The police management thanked Safe Haven for providing this training to its personnel. The training will definitely contribute to improvement in the level of professionalism of these officers, according to a press statement on Wednesday.
