SIMPSON BAY--Rotary District 7020 Governor Patrick Adizua during his recent visit presented four Paul Harris Fellowships on behalf of Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle.
Asha Stevens was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for her dedication and commitment to education in St. Maarten. Stevens has been involved in the development of educational progress in St. Maarten most of her adult life.
Other recipients were Rotary Foundation Chair David Antrobus, Past President Veronica Jansen-Webster and Treasurer Tony Da Cunha.
Individuals who have contributed more than US $1,000 to the annual programme fund, the Polio Plus Fund or the Humanitarian Grants Programme of the Rotary Foundation are recognised as Paul Harris Fellows. Additionally, individual Rotary Clubs may from time to time award the honour to individuals who meet the high professional and personal standards set forth by Paul Harris. The recognition is not limited to Rotarians.
A Paul Harris Fellow receives a special certificate and a gold pin. At the discretion of the recipient’s club, he or she may also receive a gold medallion on a blue-and-gold ribbon. Multiple-time Fellows are recognised as they continue to contribute. Additionally, Fellows receive recognition points which they may contribute towards the recognition of other members as Paul Harris Fellows.
The ceremony took place at Pineapple Pete restaurant.
Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle meets at Pineapple Pete in Simpson Bay at 7:00pm Tuesdays.
