~ One suspect on the run ~
POINTE BLANCHE--A shootout on Chincherry Road in Pointe Blanche Monday night has left one suspected robber dead and another on the run.
The alleged robbery victim, who lives in the area, was reportedly ambushed and shot at. He returned fire in response, killing one suspect.
Police responded to reports of gunfire around 11:00pm. On arriving at the scene of the shooting they found one person dead and immediately launched an area search for another suspect who, according to the victim, was part of the robbery attempt.
The alleged robbery victim was taken into police custody for questioning.
Police cordoned off the area and the hunt continues for the suspect who is on the run.
