Robbers on scooters strike in St. Peters

PETERS--Detectives of the Special Robbery Unit are investigating an armed robbery which took place on St. Peters Road in the vicinity of Tesco Supermarket at 1:30am Sunday. Four persons were robbed simultaneously, according to police.

According to the statements, all four men were on their way home after leaving a friend’s house where they had a few drinks. While heading towards their home on L.B. Scott Road, they were attacked by four masked men riding two scooters. One of the robbers pulled a gun and aimed it at them while another robber held a knife.

They forced the victims to hand over their money. The victims told the muggers they had no money, at which point the angry robber holding the pistol struck one of the victims across the head with the butt of the gun. The other robber holding a weapon reportedly stabbed another victim in the leg.

“Their money and cellular telephones were stolen from them. After committing this act, the suspects jumped back onto the scooters and fled the scene. The two injured victims were treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment,” according to the police.
