Respective tourism offices promote destination in the French Antilles

French and Dutch-side tourism officials have been promoting the destination in Martinique and Guadeloupe.

MARIGOT--As part of the development and promotion of regional tourism, St. Martin Tourism Office is pursuing its strategy of making the territory more attractive. To this end, throughout February, Guadeloupe and Martinique were particularly targeted through various participation in travel, leisure and cruise trade shows.

Both French- and Dutch-side tourism offices participated in several regional tourism fairs aimed at the general public which took place in Guadeloupe and Martinique.  Some 18,000 visitors in Martinique and 12,000 in Guadeloupe browsed the aisles and stands at these trade shows, indicating that Caribbean customers are looking for information, easy-to-reach destinations and inspiring experiences.

“St. Martin has everything to offer to regional clientele who are looking for a change of scenery and authenticity, right next door. The island relies on its assets to attract new customers and encourage repeat visitors to return on a long-term basis,” St. Martin Tourism office commented in its release. “The regional tourism market segment supports the island's overall competitiveness, so it needs to be boosted and developed.

“Participation in these trade fairs makes it possible to report on the quality of the tourist offer and extent of hotel availability in St. Martin. The island has regained its colours and dynamism; it now has a satisfactory global offer for the most demanding customers, both in terms of accommodation, catering, leisure, tourist sites and even offers several innovations.”

Tourism office representatives took the opportunity to meet with travel agencies, business committees, and travel decision-makers, as well as local media. Interviews were conducted with RFI, France Antilles, ETV and Guadeloupe Première. Interviews were an opportunity to present the state of the destination and boost the island's reputation at a time when competition in the field is stronger than ever.
