Rep on Council of State

Kingdom Council of State Vice-President Piet Hein Donner met with Prime Minister Leona Romeo Marlin in the Government Administration Building recently.

They discussed the appointment of a St. Maarten representative on the Kingdom Council of State and the progress of setting up the Integrity Chamber. The country has not had a representative on the Kingdom Council for more than four years. The vacancy is due to the last representative, former Lt. Governor for the then-Island Territory of St. Maarten Dennis Richardson, resigning to take up the post of Justice Minister. He was St. Maarten’s first-ever representative on what is the highest advisory council to the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
