Ombudsman Nilda Arduin presented the 2017 Ombudsman Year Report to Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin at the Government Administration Building on July 13.
The report, titled “Gearing towards Excellence,” highlights the Ombudsman’s focus on the country’s relief, recovery and rebuilding needs since Hurricane Irma. Two systemic investigations were launched as of last year into the country’s preparedness to deal with disasters and into the Rent Tribunal’s operations. The Ombudsman has been invited by the prime minister to make a presentation to the Council of Ministers and Secretaries-General in the near future. Copies of the annual report will be distributed to all ministers and secretaries-general soon.
