This afternoon through Tuesday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with isolated showers.

SURFACE WINDS:  This afternoon through Tuesday midday: Northeasterly to easterly with a gentle to moderate breeze of 10 to 16 mph.    

     

SYNOPSIS:      

Moisture and instability associated with a surface trough will account for increased cloudiness and showers across the region.  

Meanwhile, slight to moderate marine conditions can be expected during this forecast period.  

    

STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate       WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet    

     

SPECIAL FEATURE:    

  1. A tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean is showing signs of development and have a high chance (80%) of becoming a tropical depression within the next 5 days. This system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.  

 

  1. There is a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic and another that is expected to emerge off the coast of Africa within the next few days. Both systems have a low chance (10% and 30%) of development within the next 5 days.   

The Meteorological Department of St Maarten will continue to monitor these systems and update the public accordingly.     

   

OUTLOOK through Wednesday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with isolated showers.
