SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Saturday midday: South to southeast with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 09 mph, becoming lighter and variable at times.

              

SYNOPSIS:  
A weak high pressure system will maintain light winds across the region. Meanwhile, a dry and stable atmosphere will continue to restrict precipitation. However, moisture associated with an old frontal boundary north of the local region may cause brief local showers toward the end of this forecast period.

Moderate seas are expected through the next few days.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight to moderate           
WAVES/SWELLS: 3 to 5 feet

SPECIAL FEATURES:  Sub-Tropical Storm Melissa formed at 11:00am near the New England coast. It has maximum sustained winds near 65 mph and poses no threat to St. Maarten.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of this system.

OUTLOOK through Sunday midday: Fair to partly cloudy with a brief shower possible.
