SYNOPSIS:
The outer bands of Tropical Storm Dorian will cause cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms across the local area. Some of these showers could be heavy at times, resulting in street-flooding and or rock slides in vulnerable areas. Residents and users of these areas are advised to exercise caution.
Seas are expected to peak near 5 feet through the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: up to 5 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Dorian was located about 105 miles south southwest of St. Maarten, moving toward the northwest near 13 mph. On the forecast track, the center of Dorian should move near the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and continue over the open Atlantic.
Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Dorian is forecast to become a hurricane later today and continue strengthening during the next few days.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and keep the public updated accordingly.
