WEATHER:        

This afternoon through Thursday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with isolated showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.  

    

Forecast High: 31°C / 88°F                Forecast Low: 25°C / 77°F    

      

Sunset Today: 6:52 P.M.                    Sunrise Tomorrow: 5:40 A.M.      

      

SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Thursday midday: Northeast to east with a gentle to fresh breeze of 12 to 21 mph and higher gusts possible.  

     

SYNOPSIS:       

A tropical wave located in the vicinity of the Lesser Antilles is forecast to bring cloudy periods, showers, breezy conditions and possible isolated thunderstorms across the local area.  

Marine conditions are expected to gradually deteriorate during the next 24 hours. A small craft advisory is now in effect for St. Maarten as seas are expected to peak at 8 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough       WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 8 feet  

       

SPECIAL FEATURES: Shower and thunderstorm activities associated with a tropical wave located over the mid-Atlantic ocean, continue to show signs of organization. Environmental conditions appear generally favorable for development and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days. Interests in the Windward and Leeward Islands should closely monitor this system as it will likely be moving through that region on Friday.
THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SYSTEM AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY.
