Public introduced to Gendarmerie’s new digital brigade operational 24/7

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie is introducing the public to its digital brigade, a new information service available on a range of subjects.


Existing throughout metropolitan France and overseas territories, its role is to promote, via digital technology, contact with the population. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week on all matters relating to daily security. It is composed of 20 Gendarmes specially selected for their professional and linguistic skills.
From a device of choice, a citizen can contact the Gendarmerie in several ways; via social networks (Facebook, Twitter) or online chat on the website of the Gendarmerie (www.gendarmerie.interieur.gouv.fr/) and in five languages: French, English, Spanish, German, and Italian.
Its objectives are to provide answers in areas of defence, citizenship, recruitment, citizen participation, weapons, Highway Code, power of attorney, environment, etc.
Help and information are given on many subjects: sexual harassment, sexual violence, holiday peace operations, specific prevention for juniors and seniors, drugs, cyber security, economic intelligence, preventing radicalisation, etcetera, guide the Internet user, facilitate access to teleservices, and accompanying persons towards the national and territorial services.
It was noted that for emergencies, the public should continue to call the appropriate numbers 17, 18, 15 and 112.
