PHILIPSBURG--The annual Steel Pan Christmas Concert organised by Ebony Steel Orchestra is still going strong after 26 years with the announcement on Thursday that the show will take place in the Festival Village in Philipsburg this year.

The red-carpet affair is organised by Dow’s Musical Foundation and is set for December 26. “26 on the 26th of December was not even planned,” stated Musical Director Isidore “Mighty Dow” York in a press statement on Thursday.

The Foundation moved its pan school into the Festival Village recently and saw it fitting to have the show at the Village later this month. The show will showcase steel pan talents of primary and high school students.

The Foundation said it will have a red carpet and tents will be erected at the venue with comfortable seating. The show time is 8:30pm and tickets will go on sale next week. Tickets are, as customary, US $20 in advance and $25 at the gate, while children’s tickets are $10. The dress code for the event remains formal, according to the Foundation.
