ST. EUSTATIUS--Operation Santa Claus held its annual Christmas gift-giving event which drew a large crowd to Mike Ernest Van Putten Youth Center/Lion’s Den over the weekend.

The event started off with Santa riding on a sleigh through the streets, while throwing out sweets and goodies to anyone he met along the way.

When the parade concluded at the Lion’s Den, 455 children up to 12 years old received a gift from Santa.

The Lion’s Den was packed full of people. When Santa Clause threw candy, the children descended on the treats like a pack of wolves, knocking people off their feet.

Operation Santa Claus launched four years ago, under leadership of Dwayne Lindo, Marietza Patrick, Iligia Jones and their team members. The event also featured a prize giveaway.
