WILLEMSTAD—Curaçao’s Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina announced in a press release that InselAir and government had chosen Miami-based One Laser Group as a strategic partner for the local airline.
The group was selected from various interested parties, four of which eventually remained. The release stated that both companies have had intensive consultations in the last four months and are confident that joint plans for the short, medium and long-term will give the Dutch Caribbean carrier a chance to grow again.
There are still some details that need to be worked out, but the aim is to reach a final agreement by the end of August. One Laser Group is not an airline itself, but a conglomerate of companies that invest in various sectors including air freight, facilities for industry, food and pharmaceutical goods and oil production.
The shareholders, according to the release, were previously involved in the management of airlines.
