No quorum for Parlatino meeting

PHILIPSBURG--With three members absent on Friday morning the scheduled meeting of Parliament’s Permanent Committee for matters related to the Latin American Parliament was stalled and will have to be reconvened at another time by chairwoman Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams.

The committee comprises six members; of those only Wescot-Williams, Sidharth “Cookie” Bijlani and Chanel Browbill were present. Absent were MPs Rolando Brison, Franklin Meyers and Christophe Emmanuel.

Non-committee members attending the meeting were MPs Theo Heyliger and Dr. Luc Mercelina.

A majority of committee members (at least four) was required for the meeting to proceed on, among other things, a review of the draft model law on integration and sustainable energy complementation of the countries comprising Parlatino and draft model law for the care and protection of migrant women, girls, children and teenagers.
