No place for trash

Unknown persons and contractors on St. Eustatius have been illegally dumping unauthorized debris at a site designated to combat erosion. The garbage has been dumped between Fairplay and Lynch, opposite the former dump site.

Waste management plant manager Jeffrey Lewis said the site was designated for construction debris such as dirt, concrete and rocks, so these items can help stem erosion. The site is not meant for household garbage and galvanized zinc, as those items pose a threat to lives and property in the event of high winds or storm. Household garbage must be disposed of at the waste management plant. Galvanized zinc must be placed at the Man-O-War location where scrap metal is stored, awaiting instructions for disposal from the Infrastructure Department or the restructuring committee.
