New Chief Prosecutor St. Maarten appointed

PHILIPSBURG--The Kingdom Council of Ministers has appointed Jeroen Steenbrink as St. Maarten’s new Chief Prosecutor, it was announced Friday.


Steenbrink, who will be appointed as per January 1, 2018, was appointed on the recommendation of Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ferdinand Grapperhaus and his colleague in St. Maarten Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman.
Steenbrink will be the successor of current Chief Prosecutor Ton Maan, who will be returning to the Netherlands.
Currently, Steenbrink (58) is acting Chief Prosecutor at the Prosecutor’s Office in the province of Noord-Holland.
He also was Chief Prosecutor at the Court of Alkmaar, Director of the Prosecutor’s Office’s expertise centre on traffic and transportation CVOM, and Chief of the city of Amsterdam’s Integrity Bureau.
