Minister to appoint new Police Force managers

PHILIPSBURG--The Central Government started its search for a new chief commissioner for the Windward Islands Police Force KPSSS last week.
Authorities hope to hire another chief in two months.
Antillean Justice Minister Magali Jacoba said Tuesday that her ministry wanted to fill gaps in the police management, starting at the top. Candidates from the corps have been invited to apply for two other management jobs in KPSSS.
Applicants born in St. Maarten or in the Netherlands Antilles will be given first preference, the minister said, but she warned that if the only suitable candidates were from elsewhere, the police would hire them. "We start with the Antilles and hope we get someone from in here," Minister Jacoba said. "Within the corps you have enough people that have the right kind of experience and knowledge."
She added, "It's about getting the right men in the right places."
Police Acting Chief Commissioner Ademar Doran wants to do other things, according to the minister. Long-time Chief Inspectors B. Martina and D. Francisca are retiring from police work this year. Doran heads operations, while Martina and Francisca oversee two other divisions for the Police Force.
Advertisements were published in The Daily Herald inviting policemen to apply for these two management jobs.
