Minister Smith tours schools

DUTCH QUARTER--Education Minister Wycliffe Smith got a first-hand look at how some schools operate when he visited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School in Dutch Quarter and Prins Willem Alexander School (PWAS) for Special Education, which is temporarily located at Dr. Alma Fleming-Rogers Care Centre in Belvedere, earlier this week.

During his visit to PWAS, the minister said he was asked to deliver a brief address and participate in the school’s assembly. The theme for this month is compassion, and the minister spoke to pupils about compassion. He also visited various classes and met with the school’s teachers and school managers.

Smith said despite the challenges being faced, the school remained motivated and focused on delivering quality education for its students. He commended the school managers and administrators and wishes them the best.

At Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School, Smith visited teacher Van Putten’s grade 5 classroom and had a short chat with pupils who asked him several questions. The school thanked the minister for a good visit.
