Military assistance

The amphibious assault helicopter carrier Dixmude was back in St. Martin waters on Thursday to conduct some exercises and manoeuvres, and to deliver materials for the advance medical post at the Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital. A number of amphibious transport-landing craft were seen accessing the beaches at Anse Heureuse and Grand Case during the morning.

It was understood that these were “contactless” manoeuvres as all naval and military persons involved have tested negative for COVID-19. The photo shows soldiers from the 33rd RIMA Regiment retrieving lighting equipment on Grand Case Beach destined for the advance medical post. (Photo Grégory Rohard-Le Pélican)
