Meeting on justice petition resumes at 4:00pm today

PHILIPSBURG--Members of Parliament are to continue their discussion with Justice Minister Cornelius de Weever today, Tuesday, at 4:00pm in Parliament House.

The sitting was stalled in Monday afternoon due to an unexpected country-wide power outage. The building legislators meet in does not have any backup power capacity.

The petition under discussion was submitted to Parliament by residents on August 29 during the "Stand for St. Maarten" march. The marchers believe the country's leaders are systematically targeted by the Dutch government via the justice chain.

The Central Committee meeting was requested by coalition MPs Theo Heyliger, Chanel Brownbill, Dr. Luc Mercelina, Sidharth Bijlani and Claude Peterson.

The parliamentary session will be live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115, Pearl Radio FM 98.1, SXMGOV Radio 107.9 FM, www.pearlfmradio.sx, www.sxmparliament.org and also Parliament FB page: Parliament of Sint Maarten.
