Marine skills

The first four participants in Kidz At Sea’s Maritime Maintenance Training Programme, sponsored by Tourism Cares, received their certificates of completion and a stipend as a token of their success on September 7. Tourism Cares approached Kidz At Sea about unemployed youth after Hurricane Irma. A condensed maintenance programme was created to ensure participants could find employment in any of the marine companies to assist with vessel maintenance or to work in the chandleries with a strong understanding of various products and their usage. One graduate is now employed by 12 Metre Challenge. The other three are to continue their training in the maritime sector via another programme.
