Man shot in the leg

PHILIPSBURG--Police responded to a shooting incident on L.B. Scott Road at 11:00pm Sunday after repeated calls of gunshot sounds coming from El Mango snack bar.

  Investigating officers did not locate the victim on their arrival, but they saw numerous bullet shells on the street. The area was immediately cordoned off for the Forensic Department to collect evidence and detectives to speak to potential witnesses.

  According to Sunday evening’s police report, the victim identified as E.E.S. (26) drove himself to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for medical treatment.

  At the hospital the victim, who had been treated for a gunshot wound to his left thigh, stated to the investigating officers that he did not know who had shot him or why, because he has no problems with anyone.

  According to the report, detectives continue to investigate with the intention of finding out what exactly took place and who is responsible for this shooting.
