Man dies in Saba vehicle accident

page13f101SABA--A man died in a fatal car accident in Saba. The 80-year-old driver of a pickup lost control of the steering wheel of his vehicle, causing the car to end up in the ravine, on Saturday, September 13, around 2:15pm.

The man had previous coronary issues, and it is believed that he may have become unwell behind the wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve.

Despite quick action by fire fighters, the Saba-born victim J.B.J. died en route to the hospital.

The accident took place at the height of Just Quarter, located between The Bottom and Windwardside, at an area that has been deemed unsafe by locals. A source said that many local people are very upset with the government for not making the walls in that area safer.

Construction workers from the Public Works Department were at the location a couple of weeks ago, and were then moved to another area, the source said. "The other area had absolutely no priority to the people of Saba," he added.
