The day was quite a spectacle, as several of the male competitors donned dresses and accessorised their outfits. One of the male contestants suffered a slight injury to his foot, as he was not accustomed to wearing high heels.

The race in heels began at the Golden Rock bus stop on Sandy Road and ended at Gwendoline van Putten School on Van Tonningenweg. Contestants were warned not to run or they would be disqualified. Some contestants did not heed this warning and were subsequently disqualified. A large crowd lined the street along the race route to cheer on contestants.

The competition was held as a means for ICS Statia to give back to the community. Owner Makeba Mitchell said Tuesday, March 16, was her 48th birthday and she wanted to do something fun to celebrate the day with the community of Statia. Mitchell said that instead of spending money on a party, she had decided to give away two 65-inch televisions as the top prizes and other prizes. She plans to hold another competition in the future.
