PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten Police Force social community programme “Cops and Kids” hosted a sports day at John Cooper/Jose Lake Sr. Ball Park on L.B. Scott Road on Friday. The overall winner of the event was Leonald Conner School.
Genevieve de Weever Primary School placed second, Seventh-Day Adventist School placed third, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary placed fourth and Sister Regina School came in fifth place.
The schools competed in four different activities: Soccer, tug-of-war, relay race and fill-the-bottle.
Police thanked sponsors Rotary Club of St. Maarten Sunrise which supplied snacks, drinks and trophies; management of the soccer field at Emilio Wilson Estate; and the Police Force management team who supplied water to participants.
Police thanked all schools on Sunday for participating, and school managers and the Inspectorate of Education for their cooperation and assistance in making this Cops and Kids sports day a huge success.
