Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling wishing Officer Richardson all the best as he embarks on his six-month training programme in Abu Dhabi.
PHILIPSBURG--Officer Richardson of the St. Maarten Police Force KPSM, has been selected to participate in the International Association of Chiefs of Police/United Arab Emirates (IACP/UAE) Ministry of Interior (MOI) Police Academy Exchange Programme in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Richardson departed St. Maarten on September 10 to begin the six-month international training programme at the Abu Dhabi Police College. The programme is conducted in collaboration with the IACP and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Interior.
The training combines academic studies, physical fitness, practical exercises, discipline and other aspects of professional police training within an academy environment. It also provides participating officers with exposure to international policing practices and opportunities to further develop their professional knowledge and skills.
Richardson is the second KPSM officer to participate in the programme, following Officer Martina, who completed the previous training period. The Ministry of Justice said the continued participation of St. Maarten officers provide opportunities for international exposure, knowledge exchange and professional development within KPSM.
Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling highlighted the wider value of providing training opportunities to personnel within the justice system, saying officers can return with new knowledge, experiences and perspectives that contribute to the continued development of the organisation.
The ministry said it remains committed to supporting professional development opportunities for Justice personnel, while international exchanges also provide opportunities to strengthen cooperation with law enforcement partners outside St. Maarten.
Tackling and Chief of Police Carl John wished Richardson success during his six-month training and said they look forward to the knowledge and experience he will bring back to KPSM and St. Maarten on completion of the programme.
