Jacobs lauds Early Childhood Development educators at event

DAWN BEACH--Education Minister Silveria Jacobs congratulated early childhood development educators and directors for the “great job” they are doing in moulding the “building blocks” of the country during a breakfast ceremony at the Westin Dawn Beach Resort and Spa on Friday.

She also commended the St. Maarten Early Childhood Development Association (SECDA) for recognising its teachers in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day, for recognising the contribution they make and for working to elevate them. World Teachers’ Day was observed on Wednesday, October 5.

During the breakfast event Jacobs also spoke about her goal which encompasses all three year olds having access to early childhood development opportunities, finalising legislation as well as finding the funding to realise and regulate these issues. The latter is being worked on by the Ministry’s Youth Department.

She also spoke about the Education on the Move Committee (EOM) and getting the community more involved in education and how businesses can participate by giving their employees time off with pay to volunteer as well as contribute in a financial way to education, sports and culture.
