International Liquors keeping the bars up and running in SXM

PHILIPSBURG--Combining their efforts after the recent destruction of Hurricane Irma which ravaged St. Maarten on September 6, International Liquors and Tobacco Trading (ILTT) and two of its main suppliers Diageo and Heineken, the group decided to join together and donate 100 Generators, gas tanks and engine oil to bars on the island.

According to a press release from ILTT on Tuesday, their goal was to help customers on both sides of the island that are still without power. ILTT and the brands it represents are committed to helping out their customers in any way they can. It is vital that especially the smaller businesses have the means to open up shop and get back up and running.

The generators will power lights, fans and refrigerators in an effort to get normal life on track. According to commercial director Lenny Bain, many more plans and ideas are going to be executed in the coming months to offer continued support for the St. Maarten hospitality community.

A prime example is Johnnie Walker, which has started an advertising campaign, “Keep Walking St. Maarten,” a strong message that fits with the situation the island is in, but also identifies with the resilience of the St. Maarten people. More details about this are expected next month.

ILTT said it is the proud and exclusive distributor of the Heineken and Diageo brands in St. Maarten. Some staff members also received generators from the company.
