In celebration of Carnival, Charlotte Brookson Academy (CBA) of the Performance Arts organised an informative mini-concert themed “Masquerade” at Great Bay Sports Auditorium on Thursday.
One of the invited speakers was St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) President Alston Lourens, who spoke on the importance of preserving our culture, the history of Carnival, his role as President of one of the biggest foundations on the island, SCDF’s goal and the importance of being safe for this year’s 49th Carnival celebration. Newly-crowned Road March Champion “King James,” 2017 Soca Rumble Groovy winner Kenyo Baly and 2017 Soca Rumble Power winner “King Vers” were also main highlights of the event. CBA coordinator/Performing Arts Director Nzinga Lake said, “On behalf of our students, management and faculty we would like to say thank you to our guests for accepting our invitation and taking the time out of their busy schedules to motivate and empower our students.”
