House of Assembly to meet on Tuesday

ANGUILLA--A meeting of the House of Assembly is planned for today, Tuesday, August 28, at 2:00pm. The papers for the Medium-term Economic and Fiscal Plan 2018-2020 and the Social Security Benefit Regulations 2018 are to be placed.

Leader of the Opposition Palmavon Webster is to ask three questions of Chief Minister Victor Banks. The first will address how much the government of Anguilla has paid out from the consolidated fund for travel and accommodations for the last three years. The second question will concern write-offs in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Thirdly, Webster will ask what proposals the government has to address in the draft Elections Bill that is currently being prepared. The question also covers the current elections legislation that results in persons living abroad, who have no substantial connection with Anguilla, being brought in for the sole purpose of voting at elections.

Included on the agenda for the House meeting is a motion to annul the Benefit Regulations. There will also be the second and third readings of the International Business Companies (Amendment) Act 2018.
